At CarerNest, safety is our top priority. Every carer undergoes a rigorous verification process before they can provide care through our platform. Here's everything you need to know about our security measures.

Why Verification Matters

When you invite someone into your home to provide care, trust is essential. Our comprehensive verification process ensures that all carers meet the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and reliability.

100% Verification Rate

Every single carer on our platform has completed our full verification process. No exceptions.

The Verification Process

1. Identity Verification

The first step ensures we know exactly who our carers are:

  • Government-Issued ID: Passport, driving license, or national ID card
  • Facial Recognition: Live selfie verification to match photo ID
  • Address Verification: Utility bill or bank statement (within 3 months)
  • Right to Work: Confirmation of legal right to work in the UK

2. Enhanced DBS Check

All carers undergo Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks:

  • Criminal Record Check: Comprehensive background screening
  • Barred Lists Check: Verification against adult and children's barred lists
  • Enhanced Level: The highest level of DBS check available
  • Annual Renewal: DBS checks are renewed every 12 months

3. Professional References

We verify work history and character through multiple references:

  • Employment References: Previous care employers or agencies
  • Character References: Personal references from trusted individuals
  • Professional Contacts: Healthcare professionals or supervisors
  • Reference Verification: Direct contact with all referees

4. Qualification Verification

All claimed qualifications and certifications are verified:

  • Care Qualifications: NVQ, QCF, or equivalent care certifications
  • First Aid Certificates: Current and valid first aid training
  • Specialized Training: Dementia care, medication administration, etc.
  • Professional Registration: Nursing or healthcare professional registration

Document Security

All documents are stored securely using bank-level encryption and are only accessible to authorized verification staff.

Additional Safety Measures

Insurance Coverage

Every verified carer is covered by comprehensive insurance:

  • Public Liability: £6 million coverage for accidents or damage
  • Professional Indemnity: Protection against professional negligence claims
  • Personal Accident: Coverage for carers injured while working
  • Employer's Liability: Additional protection for care recipients

Ongoing Monitoring

Verification doesn't stop after initial approval:

  • Regular Reviews: Annual verification renewal process
  • Continuous Monitoring: Ongoing checks for any new criminal activity
  • Feedback Tracking: Monitoring of reviews and incident reports
  • Random Audits: Periodic re-verification of documents and references

Training Requirements

All carers must complete mandatory training:

  • Safeguarding Training: Protecting vulnerable adults
  • Health & Safety: Workplace safety and risk assessment
  • Data Protection: GDPR compliance and privacy protection
  • Emergency Procedures: Response to medical emergencies

Verification Timeline

The verification process typically takes 3-5 business days:

  • Day 1: Document submission and initial review
  • Day 2-3: DBS check processing and reference verification
  • Day 4-5: Final review and profile approval
  • Expedited Process: 24-48 hours for urgent cases (additional fee applies)

Important Note

Carers cannot provide any services through CarerNest until their verification is 100% complete and approved.

What Happens if Verification Fails?

If a carer fails any part of the verification process:

  • Immediate Suspension: Profile is immediately suspended or rejected
  • Clear Communication: Carer is informed of specific issues
  • Appeal Process: Opportunity to provide additional documentation
  • Re-application: Ability to reapply after addressing issues

International Carers

For carers from outside the UK, additional verification steps apply:

  • International Background Checks: Criminal record checks from country of origin
  • Qualification Recognition: UK equivalency assessment of foreign qualifications
  • Language Assessment: English proficiency verification
  • Visa Status: Confirmation of legal right to work

While we handle comprehensive verification, you can also contribute to safety:

  • Meet & Greet: Always meet carers before first booking
  • Trust Your Instincts: If something feels wrong, contact us immediately
  • Provide Feedback: Rate and review carers after each service
  • Report Concerns: Immediately report any safety concerns
